Well, if you remember how that arc ended, his wife’s on that side so of course he’s defecting.

i very vividly remember how that arc ended (karate chop to the stomach mid-princess carry) & that makes it more surprising that either A) she wasn't converted to HIS side or B) he's entirely uninvolved in this shit any more (because he had a change of heart or something idk, as you can see he seems to care more about the gender swap than anything else) so this basically confirms in my mind that the goddesses are running some kind of con-job that horribly misrepresents the demons in who-knows-how-many ways, as him finding out that the demon lord is actually another god who just got hungry & ate the rest's pudding (or whatever the fuck kind of petty shit would trigger a holy war with this useless bunch) would probably trigger an "i get to look cool fighting for someone being wronged AND help the chick i'm into at the same time? aight I'm in" reaction from him strong enough to override his apparent natural desire to be an absolute gremlin, wandering the world & becoming infamous as some sort of natural disaster wiping entire cities off the map because reasons
