she's pretty much supposed to be, nanakusa is literally listening to someone say "you're not actually special to her she treated you exactly how she treated me" by a person who flat out said what happened to her and thinking "i'm special to her" right after. it's not the most unrealistic thing because it def happens often irl with "no way i think she really likes me" thing people do but you do have to suspend your disbelief a bit when you're just a person reading a manga

I loved Run Away With Me, Girl and love Battan's art style. Even so, I'm still shocked how much psychological horror she has mined from a story about a manipulative manga editor and her harem of mangaka simps. I'm scared for Nanakusa, and also scared about what she might do the other mangakas, especially after this chapter.

Watching Iwao try and talk Nanakusa out of this situation is painfully familiar. Been on both sides of that conversation. And sadly Nanakusa's response is extremely typical for victims of manipulative abusers. Where's that one Bojack Horseman quote? "When you're wearing rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags"?

It always happens with manipulative relationships, it’s always “no way that could happen to me” until it does, and you don’t realise it until it’s too late. You can see her struggling with accepting the “I’m especial to her” part; mainly due to impostor syndrome, but also bc she would never fathom someone violating her boundaries that way unless there’s actual interest.

Both sides are really well written honestly, and Nanakusa is going to look like an idiot cuz she’s never dealt with that kind of predator, or she has but internalised it into a “this is what love is” kind of thing.

When man said "twas only a matter a time" my first instinct was creepy especially with the added context of constant proposals but nah I see he truly believes he'll reach that point one day, yet you fail to consider if she doesn't love you back the marriage will immediately become flawed, there's also a chance she was lying and will wiggle out of your proposal in the end with technicality or just straight up vanishing
