she's pretty much supposed to be, nanakusa is literally listening to someone say "you're not actually special to her she treated you exactly how she treated me" by a person who flat out said what happened to her and thinking "i'm special to her" right after. it's not the most unrealistic thing because it def happens often irl with "no way i think she really likes me" thing people do but you do have to suspend your disbelief a bit when you're just a person reading a manga

I loved Run Away With Me, Girl and love Battan's art style. Even so, I'm still shocked how much psychological horror she has mined from a story about a manipulative manga editor and her harem of mangaka simps. I'm scared for Nanakusa, and also scared about what she might do the other mangakas, especially after this chapter.

Watching Iwao try and talk Nanakusa out of this situation is painfully familiar. Been on both sides of that conversation. And sadly Nanakusa's response is extremely typical for victims of manipulative abusers. Where's that one Bojack Horseman quote?
