Because ¥6,660,823 is a bit over $40,000 USD (which is about 480,000 Norwegian krone), so unless she's a real old money trust fund kid it seems like you'd be able to bankrupt her pretty easily by just having a bunch of people spam the auction site. Or better, just start tacking on your 4 digit birth year to the price to up her cost per soul to a bit under half a million dollars.

And if she doesn't pay, well, I dunno how strong the consumer protection laws are in Japan, but it seems to me like the sellers should have some recourse to get their souls back if they can afford an attorney. Hell, since there seems to be a significant number of potential litigants and the cases have quite a bit of public awareness it's entirely possible they'd be able to find pro bono legal representation.

I think the body is still left behind, otherwise she would be counted as missing and not being buried. Taking you to afterlife doesn't specify if it takes you to afterlife as a whole, or just the spirit.

lol yeah I was half asleep; tho I meant more like you couldn’t be stopped if it was like a suicide attempt or so (tho hopefully there are more peaceful ghosts to summon) but it would be interesting to see a group of ppl , if the salt would’ve worked versus the person doing the ritual having to do that step too

Back in my school days, we use to sometimes have test basically just testing ones ability to read the assignment. Pre-facing would usually ask one to read the whole sheet before answering questions, followed by a vast amount of needlessly difficult questions except for the last question which was just saying you didn't need to answer any of the questions just write your name to pass. I like to thank those test and teachers for ingraining me the need to read instructions through instead of going step by step. You won't catch me being a victim of a ghost because I didn't read the crucial step in not getting killed.

Although Kokkuri-san was mentioned in chapter, this story with the ritual steps to summon an entity being performed alone at a specific time of night and the use of salt reminds me more of the old urban legend of Hitori Kakurenbo (Hide and Seek With Yourself).

Oh yeah my school had something like that too. I remember one of the questions was really silly like"stand up and yell 'I am the first to get to this question! I know how to follow simple instructions!' if you are the first one to get to this point.", and there was an actual kid who did it.
