Feature Request: Jump-back button to the Update page

There is one little feature request which would make life so much easier for me on this site.

Usually, I have the "Updates" page bookmarked. I start from the top, and when I find a new chapter I'm interested in, I read it to the end, when I end up at the summary page of the manga.

What would be ultra-convenient would be a button which would take me back to the correct Updates page _at the same spot of the manga I just read_. With "long strip" mangas, I can do this by hitting the browser "back" button twice, but with series with multiple pages this is not feasible.

Would it be possible to implement this feature? By my understanding of HTML, it shouldn't be all that hard to do...

You can already hit the updates button on any page. No need for an extra button somewhere.

No, the point is that if I hit the "Updates" button, it brings me back to the first page, first entry. The trick would be to jump back to the entry of the manga you just read.

If you go through 2-3 pages of new entries, reading 5-10 mangas, it is simply annoying to click Updates, then scroll back the entire page to get to the link to click page 2 or 3, then scroll down trying to find the same spot where you left off.

It would be so much more convenient if there was a "jump back to Updates" button, so that you can continue to read where you branched off.

And I'm telling you if you open the manga links in new tabs so that your tab with the updates page is still there, this won't be a problem the devs have to solve for you.

This is what I and, I assume, thousands of others have been doing this whole time.

I'm not sure what're you asking here but it takes only two swipes to scroll to the bottom of a page. Just train your eye hand coordination to stop at your desired position.

With all due respect: I thought that this was a feature request page, not a "collect smart aleck snide comments" list of inconvenient workarounds, Mrincognito.

Generating the URL for the jumpback looks trivial to me, and it would serve an obvious useful purpose. If the devs say "nope, not worth it/don't wanna", then fine. Until then, will you kindly let me suggest a feature which is certainly not critical, but which would save many clicks and scrolling for me every day? Thank you.

I don't see this being useful at all to be honest. It takes little to no effort to simply open up the entry in a new tab.

I thought about the same thing.
When I search and try new mangas i read quite some pages to decide if I like them or note.
Then it's a pain to return to my really specific search page. To get around this problem, I open everything of interest in a new tab, but of course a feature like the one you described would be useful.

The list of Updates is effectively an ever-evolving tree structure, and moving back from a leaf to the root is one of the most normal and basic forms of navigation.

There's also no need to cache anything, I'd also be fine with a regenerated page starting/centering on the manga we read before. I only want to be able to browse the list top-down without having to mess around with extra tabs/windows or other inconvenient jumping around.

I had already been warned by a friend that the Suggestions thread is infested by a clique of toxic smart alecks who feel entitled to lecture others on what to think or do, but it's amazing to see it in action

So: If the devs tell me that it's too much effort, thanks for listening and no problem.

If someone telling you that your suggestion isn't helpful or to go back and read the sticky is toxic then I must be one of the most toxic people on Earth.

@Mentar - For the most part I see nothing but people offering constructive criticism on why your idea is reduntant and suggesting workarounds. You, on the otherhand, want to talk about how "toxic" everyone is while acting smug and passive aggressively insulting them while you're steeped in technical ignorance at how difficult what you're asking for actually is. You can't talk about entitlement when you're completely trivializing the amount of resources (both coding time and servers) it would take to create something just to solve your problem of being fucking lazy. Abyssal already elucidated some of the technical issues, but it's nowhere near as trivial as you may think -- in fact, I would even challenge you to find a 1:1 comparison of a completed version of what you're asking for anywhere. The inconsistent nature of the "Updates" page would make it a logistical nightmare to find a way to return you to a previous state without storing a snapshot of that moment you clicked in cache.
It's just not a practical suggestion, and I feel like it's a complete waste of time. Including previously mentioned workarounds, you could even make a couple more bookmarks for pages 2-5 to adequately solve it if navigating is too much work; memorizing what page # you left from is easy enough.

The entire purpose of this forum is to have an open dialogue on community suggestions and provide feedback; whether that be in favor, against, or somewhere in-between. If you're looking for some kind of place where people having different opinions can be blocked out of sight, perhaps Twitter would be better. Myself, I'd much prefer a "toxic" place where people openly exchange thoughts so I can gain the insight of different perspectives.
