@Reshfan I agree. If they knew a way to help the whole time but didn't act they are worst than the main character hero.

So the mermaids have a way to make it rain but won't offer help to a starving kingdom they are on good terms with?

Seems like the mermaids are the evil ones to me.

To actually do that you need something not at hand, surprisingly mc is capable to do so...

It's not like they can kill or wake up a titan on a whim.

Also, the lake isn't big enough to stop the draught, you still need to transport the water to necessary lands.

Also, also, if they will somehow manage to take water, maybe they will have living space but there's food they're eating there that requires space. Judging by observed history, if water level in a lake drops by even 10% it causes massive environmental damage.

I'm not sure an author is dumb on purpose, but fans most likely are...
