I keep looking at the Lithuanian flag for all the comics that I know are Korean and it baffles me every time.

It's kinda fun to imagine that this takes place in Lithuania though.

This chapter was amazing! Loved how they took the time to explain why Maria is so elite, the coach praising Eun-sol for her wise approach to the ranking match was a nice touch aswell (louder for the people in the back!). The gags were hilarious as usual and the artwork was on point. The mangaka snapped on some of these spreads. Ha-min looks possessed.

HE LANDED A HIT WOAAAAAAAH
Also: Maria is Nice ASDHFSADF well she has her principles and then her environment u know, she's as nice as she can be
Also, also: Ha Nim is not suited to bloodlust huh, his own nose is bleeding from the effort

Oh but, if no one can beat Maria, then no one can obtain S-rank meaning no one can go into Fight Class 3? Was that the rule, they needed to hit S-rank to go?

@heap Ha-min has already achieved S-rank. Which means he has become elegible to go to Fight class 3. You get to S-rank by winning your year's ranking tournament. This fight is a challenge to see Who's number 1in the entire school (since there is no third year right now thanks to Maria). If Ha-min wins he takes Maria's spot as the school's top ranked fighter (outside Fight Class 3).

Finally a half-decent chapter. Good job Ha-min, going balls to the wall berserk is the most interesting thing you've done so far. We keep getting chapters like this and I may have to change what I think about this series. Art was good this time as well.

That being said? There were still a few problems. One, Maria should label her style as Muay Thai, since that would more accurately represent what she's done in the manga thus far. Her style got changed to just -- from BJJ, it seems, so I guess that's a soft retcon ever since she basically stopped using BJJ. But instead of that they should have just called it MMA. Secondly, the first point in the analysis (and most interesting, two and three are basically just "she's really strong and talented") is badly worded. This feels like possibly a translation error.

The lady describes Maria as
-relying on knees and elbows to increase power
-using accuracy to compensate for the shortened range of relying on knees and elbows

But the whole discussion feels weird, since she says "to her, knees and elbows aren't close range attacks". But, they are, otherwise she wouldn't have to compensate for short range by using accuracy. Besides, it's physically impossible for your elbows and knees not to be short ranged unless you're hugely tall and even then they'd still be shorter range than your punches and foot kicks. That's basic anatomy. How does accuracy even compensate for range? Surely that would just increase the damage output. Wouldn't accuracy be better used with punches and foot kicks since that way your damage output increases but your range doesn't decrease?

And why does Maria even need to bother with putting such a major emphasis on power ahead of range when the very next point the coach makes is that her co-ordination increases her striking speed? (the faster your blows hit, the heavier they hit because of momentum/torque, which is a crucial aspect of several martial arts especially taekwondo).

So, good chapter, but the coach needs to be fired because her explanation of Maria's fighting style is borderline insane.

If you take into account that all Martial Arts, that don't weapons, is close combat. So you have to shrink the circle of "long range" to extend to arm/leg length and "close range" to the the elbow/knee joints

In that regard, strikes made at length with the hands/ feet when you aren't in grapple/hold would now be considered "long range" and any strikes while in a grapple/hold are considered "close range".

I think what the coach is saying is that Maria prefers to use knees and elbow strikes, which can generally inflict more damage with less strength behind it, over kicks and punches. Like how a well aimed elbow can easily split open someone's forehead and fracture the skull, while a full strength punch from the same person may still cause a cut but not to the same extend and is less likely to cause a fracture.

Also remember that she says makes up with accuracy and critical strikes to compensate. Meaning Maria has to move into an opponent's range to strike, so she has be accurate enough to move in and deal a staggering (literally) amount of damage to either KO her opponent or allow for her to move out of range all without taking any major hits herself.

She brought up muscle flexion, honestly just a clunky translation in context , not because her accuracy increases her speed, but because she can strike faster than a guard can be put up effectively.

Of course speed equals force, but Maria lacks the mass in the mass x acceleration = force, when you consider most of her opponents are larger male fighters.
