If you think about it, Medusa is actually disappointing. She only blocked a single attack, but then she did nothing. You'd think she would counterattack, but no. You can't just say it's because she does the minimum to keep Xiao Yan alive, because what assurances would she have that the Soul Hall ghoul's next attack wouldn't reach Xiao Yan? You can't make sure of anything by being totally passive. Logically she should have attacked the ghoul to make sure there won't be any next move. Well, the same goes for everybody there. They had all caught the standing-still-and-doing-nothing-granting-the-enemy-all-the-time-in-the-world-to-prepare-their-next-attack disease. Truly a mediocre manhua with highly forced and scripted plot development.
