Every other faction in the world hates the Soul Clan, so why is the Soul Clan still around and thriving? It's the biggest weakness of this arc that the ghoul was allowed to do as he pleases. We got some bullshit about not being able to do anything about it due to the contest rules, but if every single other contestant hadn't given a shit about the ghoul getting eliminated by the organisers directly, what would have it mattered? There's no honour lost in not allowing your sworn enemy to participate in your contests. It's not a Pill Tower, it's a Fool Tower.

so far what we see is just their lower members, even that Mu Gu become elder because he's alchemist, but in term of strength, he's on lower one....

@Nematoda That sheep approach seemed to work splendidly for the Pill Tower, huh. Of couse the MC will sort it all out, but if the MC hadn't been around, then what? The fact the Soul Clan hasn't destroyed the Pill Tower until now means they either couldn't have done it or it would have caused too much trouble for them as well. It's that simple. Too bad the Pill Tower doesn't possess people capable of realising even simple things.

To add to what others have already said; people in this world are above and beyond greedy. Any easy advantage to rise even slightly above someone else is worth the reason. So they allow some old codger who has no beef with them to go around being a douche canoe, because they could just ride coattails.

Should they have removed him because of his obvious and evil ties, less morally inclined people would then use the barring to complain about their own removal. Honestly not making it worth the hassle.
Then, as seen in this very chapter, disguises are easily able to completely fool even the wisest of cultivators (unless plot demands them to not be). So that winner you just crowned, surprise, it was an old, evil bastard all along.

@Vasqueztion Who knows. It's like a nazi from Germany in an SS uniform trying to participate in tennis championship matches in the USA in 1942. I'm quite sure nobody would have complained if the dude had been kicked out, with an explanation or without. If someone else had complained, so what? I don't remember if the contest had an entrance fee, but they could have returned it if there was. It's idiocy to treat well someone who isn't treating you well in return, unless refusing them would bring about your own destruction. But that I already addressed earlier.
