Y'know, I've been able to say "yeah sure whatever, it's alternate dimension stuff and heat is generally related to what their powers are" when people are like "my fire-based power is making ice."
But this is just downright stupid.
Like, all you had to do was say that the adolla burst is crazy and lets him control gravity, but instead the author went with "the adolla burst lets him use heat to control mass, even as far as giving something as much mass as the earth, and then I don't fucking understand gravity at all so it lets him control gravity."

@Anonyan Seriously wtf, I'm all for giving fiction a free pass with superpower bs, but that's so far from how gravity works. The first two panels of explanation on page 6 are fine, but page 7 is complete nuts. If someone had the same mass as Earth, everything around them would accelerate to them at the same rate as Earth's gravity. I don't know acceleration and human terminal velocity under those conditions, but you'd be heading towards the ground with over twice the acceleration, and everything near you would be accelerating towards you at ridiculous speeds.

It's not too stupid. Heat is energy, and mass is energy. And gravity is proportional not just to mass, but to any kind of non-potential energy.

Cheers to the scanlators, your work is great, but the manga itself is … not really holding up great, imo.

that's not how gravitational pull works. if bodies of the same mass exist they pull on each other equally and both move to each other. it doesn't just.. float.

If one dude can have enough heat energy to slow down time then having enough energy to convert into significant mass kind of checks out in the insane troll logic kind of way.

But that is very much not how gravity works, you need less mass to float. And if anything reducing mass would probably fit more with how he's splitting up and phasing through things.

The stupid part isn't mass manipulation as a heat power, that would be right on par with all the other stuff. The stupid part is saying that if you gave something the same mass as Earth, it would just... float away from Earth. And that mass manipulation lets him freely control how much individual objects are affected by Earth's gravity without greatly impacting the things around them, somehow.
Like I said, it'd be way better if it was just "my power is that I can fuck with gravity" instead of trying to explain it by being objectively false.

Well, okay. I haven't read this manga anyway, I just decided to check out the last chapter randomly, and just read couple pages.
But I agree with you on that. If I understand this manga correctly, all characters here have super powers, but all of them are fueled by flame spiritual energy or whatever. And it indeed sounds hilarious, how they introduced a guy, who can fuck with gravity however he wants, but still had to explicitly state, that his powers are grounded in realities of this story.
This is soft magic system, not a hard one. Anything can happen just for the convenience of the plot.
So yeah, I don't feel like even reading this any time in the future anymore.
