Style points to Ohkubo sensei for taking a pretty standard back story and teacher-student dynamic and still keeping a little intrigue.

@Davy0 Most heroes in most shounen are idiots, anymore. Midoriya from MHA is the first that comes to mind that isn't an idiot and ironically he is probably the most disliked.

Does One Punch Man count as a Shonen? Because Saitama is notably perceptive and wise. He could've beat the crap out of Garou and killed him, but he Talk-no-Jutsu'd him successfully by demolishing Garou's persona. He's the strongest person ever (in his universe), and yet he'd rather talk people down than kill them.
