As for the time our MC has, while she may have a year before the son is born, there's considerably less time before conception so if she wants to steal the father she better get to work fast. That said, I find it interesting that the ML says he's single for now. That implies he may enter a relationship soon, but is not currently in one. I thought he may be engaged to Elard, but you don't say you're single if that's the case. So I'm wondering if we are in the phase where he is maybe just contemplating getting involved with Elard for perhaps political reasons or because it seems to fit good enough and he feels its time he gets married.
