Makoto is not the main character. The manga is all about making Makoto's sister look awesome. She's the main character. Makoto barely even featured in this chapter Way to prove my point.

@Pachka84 I'll have to disagree with you there. There're thousands of manga where the MC has a highly talented older sibling, or even more than one. It changes nothing on its own. Sometimes it works as a motivation for the MC, sometimes it has a negative impact. Sometimes it plays a huge role, sometimes it's only used for comedy. There are also cases where the talented older sibling is already dead, and the MC is suffering greatly because of it. There's absolutely nothing strange about such a character setting. It's as common as rice in a Japanese kitchen.

@Kaarme This person is up and down through this manga's comments whining about how any attention paid to Akane or other light-haired characters means that black-haired people don't get to be special. They seem to think it's some kind of racism.

(Main characters in manga and anime do often have bright hair colors to stand out from the crowd; this is purely a visual convention for storytelling purposes, and doesn't even always mean their hair is really that color. In contrast, long, shiny, black hair is considered a beauty ideal in Japan, and a female character having it is often meant to mean that she's "classically" beautiful.)

I'd argue that if there's a second protagonist in this manga that takes focus from Makoto, it's Chinatsu; of course, I'd never complain about that, because Chinatsu is great.

@Taper Yeah, I know. I admit I had pretty good laughs at Pachka84's comments. They came so out of left field. Like, I was thinking of all sorts of things about the chapter I just read when clicking the comment section button, but then the first existing comment I read there is about how a light haired character is being worshipped by all the dark haired ones. It was so absurd that it was comedy gold.
