Good point, she really seems to be in a changing place, at the beginning she wanted to be successful to gain influence and power (maybe also to change their society for better?) but now she started to go along with more risky and rebellious ideas, while still being pretty cynical.

If even transfloration got you more money. If it had real protections. If the rich were being taxed higher. If the pit of suffering was prevents by gauranteed income...

Then rich people don't get their fancy furniture while the world chokes to death.

And that's really all that's at stake. But for that, the whole damn weight of society gets laid against you.

You need the pit of poverty to be threatened with to keep you working hard and not thinking about it.
