I don't know what to think about it.
I really don't like the fact she doesn't see the protagonist as the enemy she is.
I like that she still made sure to capture the protagonist.
I don't like she thought of leaving Roux.
I like she didn't.
I don't like Roux and her father trying to protect her by over-sheltering her. It doesn't let her build any mental strength, and it makes her more likely to break at the first similar issue she'll encounter.
She doesn't need to be strong, she needs to become stronger. I'm worried she'll just get frailer. She might also start empathizing with mariabelle, which would be good from a surface moral pov, but bad if you actually think about the fact she's a literal criminal with bad conduct and no remorses.

It's actually quite nice that the beans have been spilled this early. Also nice that the father now knows of it (not that Sera knows he knows)

Also, I think Ace is a more fitting nickname for the birb. but only time will tell if the change will affect anything. for now, it is a welcome change, and one I didn't even notice lol.

So the prince didn't just hit on a six year old, he put a spying spell on her too.

I appreciate that, for once, a character chose to possibly betray trust and tell other important and trusted family members the 'secret', recognising that more people need to know what's going on.

I cannot disagree more with this. Over-sheltered? For fuck's sake, they let an eleven-year-old go off fighting giant monsters in jungles by herself. No chance to build mental strength? She's been receiving military discipline on a regular basis since a single-digit age.

The only way she could be less sheltered is if she were neglected and abused. And they are, specifically, not doing that, and showing appropriate care (and panic, lol) when finding their family member in anguish. Not all helping is over-protection, jeebus!

I wasn't talking about physical protection, but emotional protection. She's sheltered from inconvenience and injustice.
From the perspective we have, we know she has a past life, so she has some experience to rely on, even if it doesn't match her current personality, but from a parenting perspective, she hasn't been told no yet, and she learned that all efforts are appropriately rewarded. Of course, it's a story, so there's no doubt she'll end up fine, but that doesn't make it any better at this stage.

I don't want to spend too much time on a parenting debate, but "my kid is showing unusual and unprecedented distress, let's just let the situation be for their emotional growth" isn't even parenting, that's just watching a child grow up from the sidelines and taking notes like a psychopath.

If you're not going to try to help your children when they're having a particularly tough time, what would you even be there for? When is the parenting happening? Are parents just an ATM and cleaning service? Why do you think we arrange our societies into adults taking care of children in the first place?
