what would make this story 500x better (and unique) is if this "business partner" plan actually happens, and it doesn't transition into a lovey dovey relationship.

Agreed. There is an alternate story here where the Princess becomes rich and works for the betterment of the Irugo kingdom as Tarkan's business partner. And Dionna gets to be with Tarkan by being patient, acting like a decent person and not setting herself up as the obvious villainess of the story. That's sadly not how this genre works.
