the empress just feels betrayed and is suffering from a political complex, her husband needed political concubines to keep order and she acknowledges that they are a necessary political tool and tolerates them as such, him betraying his legal wife for a commoner has scared her (as cheating should) and now the son of her husband's affair is showing to shine brighter than anything she or her kid/kids have done and is making her feel worse about the whole thing since it paints his affair as an objectively good thingI'm trying to understand what her thought process is, like, although MC is not recognized/respected by most nobles and royals but they're still scared of him af, he's the war hero of the country which probably means the army, people who don't really give a fuck about politics, respects him extremely. If we just boil this down to the most simple aspect, he is the strongest and no one can kill him, so even if the other guy comes back and becomes king, what's stopping MC from just.... kills him and takes the throne?
Yeah sure, I will accept that but still, my point is still there, the empress and the people around her really need to think about how all of this will play out more.the empress just feels betrayed and is suffering from a political complex, her husband needed political concubines to keep order and she acknowledges that they are a necessary political tool and tolerates them as such, him betraying his legal wife for a commoner has scared her (as cheating should) and now the son of her husband's affair is showing to shine brighter than anything she or her kid/kids have done and is making her feel worse about the whole thing since it paints his affair as an objectively good thing
yeah, but to expect a bunch of adult children and a heartbroken wife to think critically enough to come to the realization warriors win wars puts a bit too much faith in themYeah sure, I will accept that but still, my point is still there, the empress and the people around her really need to think about how all of this will play out more.
Like what if the brother comes back and manages to become king but then MC might think like: You know what? I think my wife would like the empress seat but that can only happen when she marries the emperor, and I'm not about to let my wife marries someone other than me. So you know, get the fuck out. No one can really stop him from making that happens, you know?
Man I wish there are more series about someone getting to a position of political power and being chill about thingsyeah, but to expect a bunch of adult children and a heartbroken wife to think critically enough to come to the realization warriors win wars puts a bit too much faith in them
plus the plot so far seems to be going a unionist route where they either become happy little campers out in the boonies, or take down both sides and create a far larger empire out of both nations rather than a "I will slay my brother and family" plot
