I think I would have preferred the magical ring tattoo to fucking around with credit hours. I think I sent a counselor to an early retirement.

I'm so confused with everything
Pretty sure that's half the goal - I don't think this is one of those misunderstanding-based stories, but it's definitely not trying to be open about everything from the start . . . And that's not helped by the need to leave things on minor cliffhangers most chapters (which I can totally understand as a reader engagement thing, though it's also a bit irritating as one of the readers . . . )

The other work by this author/artist that I've read, Straight Girl Trap, had a very similar style of storytelling, and the confusing bits (and the misunderstandings driving them most of the time) didn't hang around too long - expect a resolution of this fairly soon.

Yeah, with the one night stand thing being used so early, I dont think I would have any problem with this story if it use the misunderstanding trope.
But no, it was the world building that Im confused about, not the mother thing, since the professor personality is like THAT, i aint worry nothing

heh - being confused by the world-building in Chinese stories is becoming more and more familiar to me as I read more of them. Very little drives home how different the culture is from the one I grew up in than trying to follow along with the way that they tell stories to each other . . .
