Stands out to me that in actuality the tongue accounts for only a fraction of how we experience flavor– I think a more accurate case of this woman's affliction would more importantly involve her having a completely absent sense of smell. Also, we have tastebuds all over the inside of our mouths! It's not just the tongue! Nitpicking the scientific accuracy of Franken Fran is a bit silly though lol
