What if the rubik's cube was actually also a trap made for intruders?
It could be put inside a weaker barrier, making it an easy target for thieves, and it's easy to activate it by accident (and it's even put in a way that makes you want to fix it, since it's almost completed)
Also, the fact that there's is a riddle who asks for two specific elements makes me think that it's also a way to make sure most thieves wouldn't be able to get away (except if they were two people, somehow didn't get separated, and have the good elements)

thank you for the chapter, and I've come to realize that perhaps this series is just as much about Grace helping Anna as it is him helping make Grace a better person so she isn't trapped by her established role as villainess with the skills he's picked up as an otaku, father, and salaryman... with the byproduct being unintentional yuri. Though considering how much "Grace" has unintentionally ingrained devotion and admiration into Anna at this point, I'm pretty sure Grace could just butter toast or somehow elegantly belch and it would put the poor Heroine on the verge of having a yuri/fangirl stroke of pure bliss.

It was explained that the element (based on the beast) is determined during the game by the player's actions, so it kinda makes sense.
It still doesn't really make sense, since there would be a 50% chance of it not working, but I guess the game would just go down a different route in that case? They could probably just free more of the other student council members from the rubik's cube.
