Not to mention that you are implying that he should just let those incompetent dickheads kill the crown prince and secure their power to avoid domestic unrest even though they are the ones that are starting it all, even being willing to invite enemies into the Royal capital to do it which seems kind of like indirect victim blaming, like "how dare the crown prince survive when that could cause trouble with those that want to seize power".

Logically, she's not a high value target. The Child needs to get to the main army to be safe. So forces would be better used covering the routes toward the main army. Even if they thought the baby was harbored at her home, it wouldn't be there for very long because that place just isn't secure. The lack of man power and security would be joke.
