... I think this kind of instant-noodle self-serving storyline is targeting 10-15 years old readers and that's why it's supposed to be unrealistically simplistic and naive... Readers with expectations for a solid complicated story would probably feel like their IQ dropping... I still wanna enjoy the simple fantasy so I guess I gotta adjust my expectations and just see it as the kind of naive chuuni fantasy I enjoyed when I was a small kid.

What? It was that easy? He felt so broken down and defeated that he just...? What? But my evil indignant noble cliché... And if the MC's intention is to just irresponsibly leave her behind, where is she even supposed to go? Why would anyone want to take her in unless they'd like to take her in as a slave? Sage, please, this isn't your first life in human societies!

what are we complaining about? there are so many isekais that almost everything could be considered as a trope... personally i read it as i would with fairy tales... i know there is a prince, there is a princess and they will end up married somehow. The MC is a kid that only knows his mother and his brother because for 15years he lived in isolation, studying magic or training swordmanship with his brother who doesn't really know much about magic... if a normal kid was to be raised like this, his social skills would have been terrible.
He is a 15years old boy and he's going to the academy... He is fleeing because he already showed too much and he thinks that being targeted/labeled as hero will be troublesome, BUT, you know... he wants to do the right thing out of pity but still not get involved too much...
Why a sage of his caliber doesn't tune his spell better? well that's for comedy, character and to show off. You know... it's a manga... if i want to read something more... a book is more suited to do the job. This type of mangas and LNs are just there to milk the genre. If they have a good reception, the author will try to write something good/better, if not, they just deliver the chapter... furthermore when you are writing a book and you suddenly have an idea about your story, even if it is when most of the script is done, you can change things around and create a better story, you can't do that in LNs and mangas, they are delivered most of the time one chapter at the time with weekly or monthly releases.

The difference between only having the bare minimum intelligence to cast a spell, and having a +6 in intelligence.

Can someone get a running total of all the walls of text here?

Guys, what did you expect? Even the title says it's cheating.

Lmao, people defending the noble, saying he'll be punished if he tried to run. Who would they believe, an A rank noble adventurer with fame, wealth or a bunch of no name villagers? the answer is obvious. If you say someone commits crimes and won't get away with it then do you ever go outside or read the news? that pink paint ain't gonna make problems go away.

Thanks for the chapter!
MC should've remembered from his crappy father and eldest brother that many nobles are of the "rules exist to protect nobles from the masses" and "nobles are above the rules" which Edwards is obviously a part of. While Edwards is agreeing now due to shock and fear he'll likely try for revenge and go back on his words once he's calmed down and got his feet back under him. Also, even assuming it's a blue moon in a leap year and Edwards frees his slave that doesn't mean he'll do anything else. So where will she go with only the clothes on her back, no money, and likely considered an enemy by anyone in the area? Although considering how she looks smitten she might try to devote herself or join MC, at least until she considers she repaid her debt to him.

Btw, seems like the level of magic has dropped down a lot. Seems a bit too much just because of peace so anyone else think there might be a conspiracy to deliberately hinder and stunt the growth of magic users? If so, usual trope would be demons planning on a comeback in preparation for a new Demon Lord to rise up, although might be decision of royalty to prevent rotten nobles from doing as much damage if rebel. After all, MC's father tried to use family's most powerful spell to murder the prince who was a baby, but instead of being able to do it solo needed about thirty+ powerful magicians to cast it. Speaking of Demon Lords, I wonder when we'll find out what happened to Merlin. After all as a demon she'd still be alive, but despite being MC's daughter would likely have received a fair bit of prejudice for being a demon. Especially as time passes and farther from their village they go.

The guy's willing to slam the lid on people trying to flee for their lives and he'll be the most powerful person around in every sense once you leave so... yeah.
