There's a chance even that was a part of his plan. Like if you say a student recommended this plan this would highlight coach's irresponsibility and further make them loose morale so obviously he had to say it was his plan. Who would the students trust more, a coach or a student who joined few months/weeks back and has been hated since start because of rumors. Not saying the coach isn't an a-hole but think before passing on judgments

Its not really stealing in this situation. MC gave him the plans because he knew it had to be the coach to keep morale somewhat. At the very least he acknowledges he cant be the one to bring this up to the team. Its strategy. The coach is certainly not a very good person but at least he can admit when hes made a mistake as seen previously. Hes still prideful but seems to at least understand when hes fucked up sometimes.
