yeah, even illegal recording could be used against people. but, under one condition, as long as the evidence is not fake. in this situation, the recording is most likely innocent (real) until proven guilty (fake).
but i'm sure, for the storyline, the author wouldn't go that far as to make the main characters go to court. unless the situation is dramatized enough
