I might be missing something here, but Bal was basically only going to die because she got (was going to be) poisoned before facing Gain, right?

So instead of scrambling to stack up new skills, with no idea if he'll get strong enough to fight Gain, wouldn't it have been more productive to just find or make an antidote to give to Bal? This guy is supposed to be an alchemist, after all.

This dude keeps obsessing over "new skillz" but he won't even use the skills he has!

He won't even consider using his alchemy, doesn't use the vibrating sword, doesn't remake or even sharpen the mithril sword, and evidently thinks that Spinning In A Circle is a great way to fight with a sword!

I mean... at least one of you nerds knows that he has, at best, about 37° of minute-arc when he can engage his opponent in any way, and he is entirely vulnerable for the remainder of the 360° of that spin; even if he is Spinning at 75 Kph, there is still a significant amount of time for an opponent to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge past his sword and stab his fool-ass dead.
Even better would be to start casting magic, but his next opponent doesn't do that, so...

I feel like I'm just reading this to see if he ever uses his skills, or ever sees his mom, again.
