Why do they have a shortage of weapons? how hard is it to make a crude spear exactly like the one the guard has?
A spear isn't the same as tying a kitchen knife to the end of a broomhandle; a military weapon has got to be able to resist the rough handling it will be subjected to without breaking, be designed in a way to prevent it getting stuck in the enemy and be able to be repaired/reused when another battle begins. And mind you I'm only speaking about the spearhead, the wood is a completely different monster.

The MC literally HAD to use isekai-alchemy in order to make the weapons from what they had because he also knew that a makeshift solution simply wouldn't cut it.
If you've got a shortage on metal, you want spears more than swords. They're not as good in cramped spaces, but generally better everywhere else.
I suppose the MC wanted to give them a side-arm too, for when the enemy gets too close.

Isn't magic versatile?
Yup. The magic class discrimination is stupid. For one, why does a king need battle prowess anyways? They stated magic caps out after 30 so MC having odd magic wouldn’t stop him from being a capable sword fighter Or military tactician.

And it seems the skill system, over time, trumps magic anyways. The premise is flimsy. More than that, MC’s motivation for anything he’s doing is vague and weird. I have no idea why he cares about anything he’s doing.
