I don't get it... The hero was a normal modern guy. Hell the pope knew him. Why a religion based around him impose chastity on their practitioners? In the Catholic Church that the hero religion it's based on the chastity on priests is because of Jesus Christ and in nuns because of Virgin Mary...

I don't want to sound racist but... The hero was also your typical Isekai Japanese protagonist... And one of the strongest cliché on those guys is how the plot strongly protect their chastity...

Honestly I hope in the future appear some descendant of the hero that finally crumble the chastity aspect of the religion.
Well, there are a few things going on...

1. For dramatic tension (because this is not an actual hentai) the ecchi comedies rely on slapstick that gets in the way of sex (or at least makes it really, really awkward). Sometimes it approaches absolute absurdity (Monster Musume). There are many plot devices to achieve this, this is one of them. Otherwise the whole manga is just us watching this priest have sex with 3 women all day, which somehow is sadder...for us.

1.5. Often these sorts of manga are self-inserts, so they are designed to have "super slutty females BUT ARE ACTUALLY PURE AND ONLY FOR YOU" and if they have sex with the MC, it must ruin the illusion of purity and self-insertion for the Japanese audience. I have no proof of this, but I assume some very business-savvy backroom pr teams have studied this or commissioned studies, and this is what they have found out.

2. Catholic/Christian church morality is sort of a comedy act in and of itself for people outside Christianity (even within, people would make jokes like this about the priesthoods: i.e., having sex with nuns and whores or pederastry (coterminous with homosexuality)), so, this allows for jokes about an alien-but-known-religion with silly ideas of chastity, and also succeeds in goal #1. 1.5 is not relevant here, the MC isn't much of a self-insert.

3. Well, you hit the nail on the head. The joke is the religion is "inspired" by the "chastity" of the Original Isekai protagonist, and really is just ripping on the perpetual meme you mentioned.
