This time, we talk about expensive brand goods, it seems. Seeing the amount of zeros on the price of items in this chapter certainly made my eyes pop, LMAO.

Does here anyone ever own something high brand and its actually worth the price XD

I had a liz clairborne bag if that counts, tho i did get it from a thrift store, other than the strap being aged it's pretty decent for what it is (tho idk how 'high up' that name is compared to gucci and such b/c i don't think i've heard it talked about as much anymore [one time outta curiosity i saw like a simple blue bag/backpack, tho a bit small to be considered a backpack and it was like 5k. like dang at that much i'd think it's money laundering or catered specifically to rich ppl if it's not outright bulletproof XD])

My mom used to buy perfumes from department stores to get those free bonus mini purses lol (lifestyle/home wise, idk the brand but i assume dad spent quite a bit on our furniture sofa/couch set and tv bc he's always watching movies lol)

I imagine 'high brand' for stuff like shoes might be more 'worth it' as something you'd wear every day versus 'dressing up' for formal events and such

p6, needs a space (or at least a hyphen?) for 'long lasting' maybe

because high price is usually high quality. that means, you can use it for a long time.

i have a Tod's leather loafers. i love it. it's comfy, and i can use it for casual and semi-casual event. i wear it often and it's keep getting better with age.

on the other hand, i also used to own Gucci's formal leather shoes. it's a gift, so i don't wear it often. and the sole is crumbling because it's on a stagnant state for a long time.

there is one, like the tote bag in this chapter, or the SUPREME shirt, which is just a pure rip off.
there's no quality there. just a whole bunch of marketing.

Gotta remind myself not to get too irrationally mad at that balenciaga factoid they tried to say. No, no high fashion brand started street wear, if anything they ruined the idea of street wear from what was a counterculture deeply rooted in full punk aesthetic (i.e. both the moral ethos and visual appearance of punk) and turned into the corporitized and capitalist giant 'street wear' has become. The earliest forms of street wear as the name suggests, came from us gangs during the early age of hip hop and to an extent anything Michael Jackson wore during his first rise as a solo artist. This first became associated away from them and towards punk ethos around when sean stüssy accidentally started a trend of making shirts when he was trying to sell his custom print surfboards. There's multiple historiographies about stüssy and how it led to the current brands we associate with street wear today (none of which being balenciaga mind you, outside of the out of touch fashion brand that doesn't understand street at all) like supreme, bape, etc.

I don't own anything expensive, but my parents do, one time I had to go rummaging for a costume for a play I acted in and found out my dad had some old expensive Italian branded pin stripe suit. Tore the side of it cause I had bigger thighs than he did, and found out it was probably too expensive to be made a theater costume but eh. I had a pair of sneakers that would become a grail item for some collectors, but I was like 14 and wore them wherever, broke them then just sent them to a second hand shop.

I think expensive stuff should be limited to accessories, cause those are easier to up keep than a suit or pants or anything worn tbh, owning those types of clothes in and of themselves is the wealth status cause having a shirt cost more than your countries annual minimum wage salary indicates that you can probably easily buy another one if the one you own become bad. Like you can harp about high fashion and all, but at the end of day it's just a shirt.

Also, no, tabi shoes are ass. Get loafers if you want a casual leather shoe, tabi is peak trend as a form of shoe outside its functional use currently as a worker's foot wear. Spamming the form onto anything rn (from sneakers to leather) is wearing it out real fast.

I have a celine bag that's part leather part canvas that I use for nice dinners out and it's lasted me well over a decade at this point (it was a present from my parents so I can't speak of the price, but I do try to use it enough to make it 'worth it')

I'd say for high end products, something like leather shoes or bag is a good pick as they're pretty well constructed and I consider them waaaayyy more practical than, say, a white t-shirt with the gucci logo on.

I shop at slightly-higher-than-normal-end menswear stores and the only expensive item I've ever been sad about is a blazer that I immediately outgrew because I started going to the gym. I have some mildly expensive shoes and coats and I love them, have never regretted spending more than an average person would.

That said, I buy my white t-shirts from the $10 places down the road. I will say that up to a certain point, you get what you pay for. Durability, wearability, fashionable cues, etc.
But if you're buying a $1200 gucci belt or dripping yourself out in a full Rick Owens fit, you're not paying for a quality so much as you are an experience (and quality). I think you should spend your money on whatever you want, but from a practical pov spending a lot of money on brand-name fashion is rarely "worth the price". It just comes down to the feelings it evokes in you, and how far you want to go to project an aesthetic.

Unsurprisingly, it's the same with cologne and perfume. I would say my bottle of Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille is very worth it, but someone who does not want to spend much on cologne would never agree, and that's fine. People value different things.

During the pandemic the duty free store in my city closed down indefinitely, but they open a couple of times for private sale which I happened to be invited to. I got a Burberry coat for 85% off at around $350. At that price I can't not buy them. Even when tho that was a whole month salary.

I really love how this manga about fashion, created a discussion here about fashion ♥️

As for me, I admit I'm pretty new to taking care of clothes (as I work with a lot of dust, mud, and clothes-ruining materials), but I do own a few necklaces, rings, and bracelets that could be considered decent? I love accesories :)
Also, love the president guy, hope he appears again in some future chapter

I got a Tommy Hilfiger winter jacket from a "kinda high-end" thrift store that sells 2nd-hand branded stuff, it got me through cold seasons easily and I consider that one of my best practical purchases, all my other stuff from street brands are kinda ass and just bought for the lols

somehow I can't just highly regard the prices of branded goods anymore after seeing yt shorts about straight from the factory items and their MOQ value. Also, some claiming they are the factories of the said brands.
