While its not 100% (since it mostly was to mess with his bff), he often still does it if there is a suitable punishment. He didn't bother with the judging of sinners, but if there is a fun and suitable punishment he'll hop right on that.

It's not just towards him but towards innocent people as well. Fatso admitted his crimes to MC so he returned the favor in the same way he returned that murder village's "help" towards his old troops, girl tried to burn him with flame magic....now she's burning without the ability to die from her own magic. Honestly, I'm surprised he gave the furry wannabe an illusion when he tried to "cut him into pieces" with his magic. I wonder what kind of dream lighting girl well get....and oh god what he's going to do to the "old hag" for all the shit she's done.

Feel like this has been dragging on for too long. How long till we move on from this revenge arc? I know its the whole point of the manga (gore p*rn & whatnot, but still).

Raoul's already gone after the main perpetrators (the general, former party members, the ill-in-the-head goddess etc.) & brought justice to the innocent.
The mage group just feel like a buncha random baddies shoehorned in for us readers to relish in their suffering. CMIIW, but they had virtually no connection to Raoul's revenge.

What's the direction the light novel took? There some sort of showdown with the king or smth? Will he ever find closure?

Raoul is still a Hero. He saved the people who were innocent, he judged the guilty, he took revenge but the people he took revenge on were evil to begin with. He didn't kill the demon girl and didn't do her work, he just gave her the opening for her to do what she wanted. And just because she wanted revenge on him didn't mean he was compelled to kill her either.

Actually, still wondering what's going on with the demon girl.
