yes it's back. best flustered-chan is back! 10q for tl

For those who don't know, Idol's have to maintain a "single" status at all times to attract fans. If word gets out about any relationships, it kills the illusion. Company's stocks have dropped because of such scenarios. Parasocialism is real strong there.

Even worse than the stock drop, idols have been blamed and terrorised by their company if not dropped altogether for the sake of the mob of simps and their obsessions. K-Pop idol Minami Minegishi (wiki) is the best-known K-Pop example of this, with her instantly being demoted, not allowed to see the guy again and being forced to shave her head bald and apologising in tears. It's absolutely criminal, but this is the exact culture many people love and obsess over, thanks teenage shitheads worldwide! She kind of recovered from it and eventually 'retired' from her group 3 years later, another 5 years later in 2021 she could eventually get married without East Asians wanting to fucking murder her.

Koreaboo.com: Where Is She Now? The Idol Who Shaved Her Head After Being Caught Dating Has A Completely Different Life

Back to Japan, here's a YouTube video: Japan's Ridiculous Weatherwoman Fiasco. As you can guess from the title, any (attractive) (East) Asian celebrities can be subjected to this toxic behaviour, it's just that the idol industry built it.

Will it be correct if I say it's all because the "Media" is the root of this evil?

[I mean I don't have a TV for last 10 years, so I don't watch news so whenever I get to know about any major mishap a months later (like a riot), which made me understand that life without media is super damn peaceful]

Kind of, but not in the way we use the word media globally. The Japanese idol industry created this and can be called the root of this 'evil'. Growing up in the West but not in the US, I thought Hollywood was pretty bad, and to some degree it generalisably is, but it pales in comparison. Famous people in the US can form relationships, it's cheating and regular bad behaviour that we find appalling. The idol industry in Japan and everything based on it (K-Pop, Chinese streaming idols etc.) is toxic to the core. The wiki page linked above has a criticism section on their working conditions, the dating ban and sexualisation of idols. The dating ban section also links to several (vicious) attacks against female idols and mentions how they are poorly protected against the people indoctrinated by the idol industry's insanity.

I think I've read some very long/intricate blogs or Reddit comments about this before, but it's too long ago to remember, I'm also not invested in idols beyond recognising some VA names lol, but they are around and maybe a good search query will net you an interesting read/video.

tbh I don't really follow what's going on but it doesn't seem to matter much

I guess wording of headlines can say a lot too but I guess "the idol already has a boyfriend" doesn't work in their mindset (of producers?), huh?

I guess that's the kind of cultural difference we have, though I think with new upcoming younger generations, it should slow down as that very same news has started to make people more aware about such atrocities

I for once don't mind such backgrounds as long as their "art" is really "beautiful" or applausable because they aren't doing any criminal activity now, do they?

Normally I can't stand Idol stuff but this one's pretty fun, I'm glad the creator remembering that it exists.

Love IS terrifying. It can turn a yankee into something this cute. Be careful, producer-san. She may get suggested by her friends to attack you.

I'm still pissed how they did my girl Aya Hirano... Of course, that may be mostly on the shitty fanbase.

Wish they weren't so anti her actually shacking up with her manager. It is even ideal, as they will know this from the get-go at the debut, so they can market her as the kind of idol that is in a relationship already at that point to ensure no fan thinks otherwise and get mad when they realize they were mistaken.
