K-Pop idol Minami Minegishi (wiki) is the best-known K-Pop example of this, with her instantly being demoted, not allowed to see the guy again and being forced to shave her head bald and apologising in tears. It's absolutely criminal, but this is the exact culture many people love and obsess over, thanks teenage shitheads worldwide! She kind of recovered from it and eventually 'retired' from her group 3 years later, another 5 years later in 2021 she could eventually get married without East Asians wanting to fucking murder her.

Back to Japan, here's a YouTube video: Japan's Ridiculous Weatherwoman Fiasco. As you can guess from the title, any (attractive) (East) Asian celebrities can be subjected to this toxic behaviour, it's just that the idol industry built it.

I feel like the industry had a huge hand in perpetuating this BS.

For those who don't know, Idol's have to maintain a "single" status at all times to attract fans. If word gets out about any relationships, it kills the illusion. Company's stocks have dropped because of such scenarios. Parasocialism is real strong there.

Wish they weren't so anti her actually shacking up with her manager. It is even ideal, as they will know this from the get-go at the debut, so they can market her as the kind of idol that is in a relationship already at that point to ensure no fan thinks otherwise and get mad when they realize they were mistaken.

While similar in some aspects, Idols are in no way 1:1 with Western celebrities in how they are viewed. The prevailing psychology is that, as the fans, they are the living wallets that contribute to their idol's success, and as such, are entitled to sharing her equally. In essence, a weird sort of communism over a cult of (female) personality. For one man to rise up and start a relationship with her is to NTR thousands upon thousands, and the idea of someone who is already in a relationship starting a career as an idol is extremely unorthodox. Might work for an underground idol going for a small following, but it is unrealistic for her to go big.

My point is that her career is at risk of getting nuked either way because of Otaku standards, and that the ideal is that MC takes responsibility and marries her instead of making her go through the motions of a pro idol anyway. But this is a comedy manga, you're gonna continue to take it seriously and ignore me anyway.
