Oh that got thoroughly resolved in the flashback chapters (47-51) about how Mayuri and the ghost girl met.

Between a random teacher Mayuri asked and her mom we found out ghost girl's full name, when and how she died, and what she was like when she was alive.

It was really really funny in comparison to the at least one series I've seen where ghost girl's deal is either end game shiz or never fully explained.
