Why use feminine pronouns for the brother? I understand doing that in dialogue, but "She's panicking" being used for him is weird? Was it like this in the japanese too?

I’ll never understand the hesitance for characters to just use the other bathroom in stories like this. Like, why is that where you draw the line? Just sit in your own stall!
