I mean, considering how the author phrases a lot of their dialogue and interactions, it's pretty clear how important they are to each other. I won't put my words into the author mouths, but mostly I guess that Yukiko wants to show how a relationship doesn't need to be established by words (nor viewed in full detail from the outside) to be something important an beautiful to those within it. I legit feel that if Yukiko were to officialize their relationship it would be out of pure fanservice, and quite cheap at it, at least for me.

At least for me, that's the charm of Futaribeya. They know they're in love with each other, everyone around them knows they're in love with each other, and even the readers too.

It's comfy as fuck, it's fun to read, no drama bullshit, and no excessive kissing and (god forbid) fucking on every chapters. Those cliche made me bored real fast.

And if I wanted to watch 2 girls fucking each others' brains out, I would rather read hentai doujins, not 4komas lol.

TL;DR Futaribeya is nice because it's comfy af.

The author already defined their relationship when Sakurako described her feelings toward Kasumi as being something like her best friend, her family, and her girlfriend. It's been established that once they're out of university and have jobs they'll likely get matching wedding rings, and the potential for a ceremony is there considering Sakurako once said to Kasumi she'd like them to have matching wedding dresses. Truly, if you want to put a label on their relationship, "Lifemates", as Sakurako said before, may just be the best descriptor .

Where are you reading shoujo ai stories with excessive kissing? I've looked all over the place and the ones I've seen have very small amounts of physical affection between the leads. Not even the yuri ones have that much, with like, one notable exception I found.

Am I looking in the wrong places or something?
