I get you about the daughter, but with the wife you really forced. The wife clearly has zero love for him, treats him like shit and all. What's the point of continuing a relationship like that if it's not for the daughter?
In the US it would be 50% of assets, child support until she's a legal adult (and possibly longer if forced to pay for education), and (possibly lifelong) spousal support if there is an income differential between them. And this could happen even if she WAS cheating in a state where no fault divorce is the only option. That's enough to keep some men unhappily married.
And if you're doing it for the child(ren), they know when their parents hate each other and you're teaching them that a relationship like that is something that's normal to stay in.
