'God' says that a 'Dead End' cannot be changed, and means 'certain death'. Does that mean the main character is going to die no matter what he does?

To clarify what dead-end means, It Means unless the killer is somehow killed or rerouted you are fated to die. It's not checkmate but rather check. (Hopefully, that makes sense.)
