What is it with all these Japanese male characters with horrible friends.
Ditch them immediately. (Especially if you are supposed to be showing how good a person you are in a relationship.)
I don't know how many times I've seen such be anything but supportive.
Abusive "friends" are anything but friends. Tell them what for, and if they don't shape up, just boot them.
