@Rillant I just looked and checked, and volume 3 is around 10-30 NZ dollars according to where you look - some cheaper versions are out of print so I may just have to bite the bullet and buy some more expensive versions. Every single version I've looked at that will ship to NZ (amazon.jp does not, apparently) are used but seem to be in good condition.

Somehow, I feel like this manga is just really mean to its heroine, and not in the "this is what high-school girls have to deal with" kinda way. Leaves a bad aftertaste for me, I guess it's just not my cup of tea.
Edit: judging by the chapter comments I really dodged a bullet by stopping at chapter 10
