Uuh, can the media please stop portraying all traders as degenerated gamblers? That‘s like portraying everyone who drinks alcohol as homeless alcoholics.

Trading is a very rewarding job if you treat it as a business and take it serious. It has a very steep learning curve and challenges your mental state a lot, especially in the first 2-5 years. But if you can push through, your monetary success can exceed even your wildest dreams.
I know what I‘m talking about - trading changed my life and made me financially independent. But it was far from easy and it didn‘t happen overnight.

What you see in places like r/wallstreetbets is NOT the reality of a professional trader (I thought that was clear, but I guess not). What those idiots do, really is gambling. But actual trading isn‘t gambling. It‘s more like poker. There is an element of luck/chance, but if you watch a final round of a poker tournament, you only see professionals - proving that you need skills to have enduring success.

If Efficient-market hypothesis is true (and to an average person that doesn't have secret data it seems to be) .
Even if it's not, human based trading seems to be a thing of a past (as in you should write program to do it for you if you want to have any chance)

Like yeah, some people win, but after applying statistical analysis to them... it follows pretty much the same result as what would have happened if people were making totally random decisions. Some just happen to roll the dice.

At the same time I knew people who did trading in the developing countries, and they claim that until BigMoney(TM) starts throwing their weight around and fucking everyone up, it is doable.

With all due respect, you clearly have little to no actual experience in the financial markets. Please don‘t write about things you only have theoretical knowledge about.

My own experience shows that you can make consistent profits without being an institutional trader or relaying on algos (which are written by humans anyway - they aren‘t AI‘s). And there are countless people like me.

Look, I get it. If I only knew about r/wallstreetbets and stupid videos of „rich traders“ in front of their Ferraris and mansions, I, too, would think it‘s a scam.
But it‘s not. Not if you do it the right way. Trust me.

No.
Because gambling is 100% chance. If trading were pure chance then a Trump tweet wouldn‘t move the market. But when he announced the China trade war, the markets plummeted. Thus, not a random move.
The outcome of a roulette game will always be random, no matter what (unless the dealer/casino cheats with magnetic balls or something, lol)
