Was it explained before why the hero is so stubborn on wanting to kill the demon lord? Or is just a stupid thing like "I'm hero, you demon lord, I kill".

Not that it's in any way the point of this series, but what is the geopolitical landscape of this world like? What is the demon lord doing that the hero is supposed to kill her? Because she really doesn't seem like the type to be doing much evil and we can see that regular people can basically walk right up to her castle and even the prince can pay an unannounced visit if he feels like it, but they still think the demon lord would be killed.

It's been awhile so I might be misremembering things and I'm to lazy to check. I think I recall her in one of the earlier chapters saying she wanted to do evil shit (take over the world, kill all the humans except Yuu, etc.) but won't because it would upset him. I don't think I'm mixing this up with another manga but I could be wrong.

Because she plans to kill everyone but him to keep him all to herself mostly. Of course that's promptly forgotten not even halfway through the first chapter, but that's the excuse we were given to kick off the plot.

honestly i just think the prince (or someone of similar royal status) most likely wanted demons to be killed and erased because of their fearsome powers. probably spread propaganda about the demons even if they're not at all like that, and they don't wanna be dethroned in a single flick of hand from a demon (much less a girl). but thats just my hunch i'unno anything.
