Because, he thinks similarly to the premise in old JRPGs (like Dragon Quest), that the Yuusha killing the Maou automatically brings peace to the world. However, Maoyu (which definitely this series reminds of) subverted this notion, and nowadays manga and LN series are more likely to portray the Maou as a different kind of character (even a good guy) and the Yuusha and their parties as not entirely good (even going as far as being the true villains).
Yes... even the opening scene reminds me of the iconic "Become mine, Hero!" "I refuse!" of Maoyu! And said series even got the inspiration for said scene from Dragon Quest I! They even discussed how the Maou offering "half the world" to the Yuusha is old fashioned...
