Not a big fun of the concept of "Emotions accumulate down here and manifest stuff, including monsters".

Here's waiting for the big reveal that the sky people are actually dumping either something with malicious intent to cause those things to happen, or some kind of run off from something of theirs aware of consequences an uncaring about it. (I like the latter more)

What can I say? I like a bit more of science with my magic, rather than pure "It's magic, just go with it".

well since the main premise of the power system (as we know it by this chapter) is “souls exist inside items,” while it’s not very scientific, it feels natural that souls then manifest in the garbage and create monsters. the premise itself is pretty magical so this is just more of that.

though i agree, it feels pretty simplistic so far. i’m curious how seriously this story will take the environmental themes or even its sense of morality. so far the sky people were presented as very moustache twirly villains.

Hmmmm...

1. I'm sure there has to be more to those monsters than just emotions left on discarded items going awry. Especially if Skypeople are the same as we saw in ch. 1 - they didn't seem very attached to those items, to even leave any emotions of them. Unless, of course, it's emotions like disappointment, disgust etc. when they discard broken toy or something they're bored with.

2. "Taste of my love stick" is absolutely DIABOLICAL, oh my...

3. Engine being full of shit, crafty, a bit shady, but also experienced and strong is exactly the type of character I enjoy seeing, guiding protagonists through new environments. In person though? I would've hated him with passion, most probably xD

4. We might be getting into "you're just new here, no way you're meeting the boss this early" phase of many RPG-s. They're probably going to make Rudo do some chores, learn the ropes, build up a bit of trust, before he can meet anybody truly important. It makes sense, so I don't mind it - it IS a plot device though. What isn't, on the other hand.

5. Stick-lover is the same one Engine's been talking to, as it seems, so a fellow-senpai for Rudo. There's something nostalgic about small misunderstandings introducing characters to each other. It feels so "prologue", so "coming back home from elementary school", so "I've found my new hobby". Makes me feel warmer.
