Why would they ask the sister to watch over the bride to be? That was usually the job of maids and other servants.

I was thinking the same thing, why pick the younger sister who is often beaten by older sister, is powerless to stop her to make sure she doesn't cause a scandal before wedding. What way would that ever not go wrong..
