Considering all the foreshadowing, it's pretty obvious that she'll die, get raised as an undead later, and Goemon (Or the titular character who's been gone for a while) will somehow save her. Still, that's pretty cool how she just shut down the cardinal's transformation like it was nothing. It's good to have expectations subverted like that every once in a while.

This encounter wasn’t in the LN and if anything the MC played way too much role in the arc (no pun intended) told in the LN. So I guess they’re trying something different...?
