While this is still cute and fun, yeah, author is definitely getting a little out there at this point and lack of perspective is really showing. "Hardly any computers" makes absolutely no sense for example. Computers can last and keep working for decades no problem even in extremely harsh conditions. It's true that the newest processes have more limited lifetimes under use, but in an outbreak type apocalypse there'd be so much abandoned equipment that wouldn't matter. Warehouses full of brand new inventory that was made to serve a vastly larger population too. If anything they'd be absolutely awash in computers, it's human time that'd be in short supply, and potentially electricity. I'd be worried about keeping the lights on in the short term, and in the longer term trying to keep from falling completely out of industrialization.
