English speakers sure do have a stupid way of making acronyms. Why Latin? Use words that are in the English dictionary, not some dead language.

@Pancakeza wow you’re rude and unable to pick up subtle details
Latin is used mostly by those in Academia, the purpose here, if it weren’t obvious, is to let us know that really smart people used to work here and make that fact more believable

Lumping a cultural niche with the wide English speaking world, and then insulting it all...
Let me guess, you’re from Botswana? Thailand? I’m gonna be even more angry if you’re from the Philippines, because you’re going to make me ashamed of my fellows.

I am a native English speaker. I was just joking, sorry if I offended you somehow. But I don't know why your taking a comment so seriously in the first place.

Also, I am pretty sure you just did the exact something you were ridiculing me on. Going on to say "let me guess, you're from Botswana? Thailand?" Lumping a "cultural" niche, or in this case a "national" niche of the Botswian or Thai people, don't you think you are being a little bit disingenuous (where does that accusation even come from? Botswana anti-English or something? Wouldn't blame them)?

But hey, people have to boost their ego somehow, insult me all you want. Over generalization is something people have been doing for a long time, so I didn't think one would find such a broad over generalization to be offending nor did I think it would be rude. But forwarding a domineering comment such as your's. Yeah... lets not do that okay?

Please chill. Also, Latin is used because it's a dead language, like it isn't being developed anymore so all the words in Latin are all there is. It's much easier to define things that way, since there are no alternate meanings, usually.

Kinda like the difference between Canis and Dog. Canis refers to the animal while "dog" can be used for a bunch of stuff like as an insult or something. I hope I helped!
