I don't even know what you're talking about, 754. The story ending because two people start dating only happens in the minds of unimaginative hacks. Just look at like, Tonikaku Cawaii. They literally get married within a chapter or two and that's just the beginning of the story. There's all kinds of fluff, cleaning tips and hardships that a couple could go through together.

It would be a very different story - a developing couple doesn't face the same challenges or achieve the same resolutions as a married couple. Developing couple stories about often understanding your own feelings, learning to communicate, and learning challenges within a relationship. The challenge in this type of rom-com is each other. Married couple stories tend to be about anticipating each others feelings, and how a couple communicates, and often how the relationship helps them deal with external challenges together. The challenge in a married romance is generally everything else.

Our friend kronix here has the same complaint on this and every other rom-com manga: that the characters don't make relationship progress.
My comment argued that complaining about slow progress in these manga is useless, because developing couple stories are fundamentally about the struggle to make relationship progress. If kronix's complaint were satisfied and the characters made progress faster, then it would quickly negate that particular objective of the story.
You're not wrong - the story could continue. But it would be a very different story, and it would probably not be about Daisuke trying to deal with Chiriko at arms length, or Chiriko exposing herself just to tease him, and they would not simply be awkward housemates with an unresolved sexual tension.

@x754 Yes, you're right in that it would negate that particular objective of the story. And that's how competent writing with character progression works. The characters continually clear various objectives. It would indeed no longer be about Daisuke trying to deal with Chiriko at arm's length, or Chiriko exposing herself just to tease him, and they would not simply be awkward housemates. Instead, we'd have new opportunities: Chiriko could start cleaning, too, and it could become a collaborative effort. They could start working together in a part-time cleaning business, starting with perhaps some of their friends' homes. Daisuke could go from loser nobody to having a circle of friends and acquaintances who see him as worthy of respect. They could explore the family relationships more. If Chiriko and Daisuke started relying on each other in a solid relationship, the story could then start dealing with her obviously dysfunctional family - and she'd have that strong pillar of support there beside her. Dating could introduce more characters, the school setting, etc. Although personally no matter what happens, I think Chiriko could keep exposing herself to tease him - relationship progress would mean that he could actually respond positively to that instead of getting all cherryboy embarrassed about it.

If there's no romance progression in a romantic comedy there's literally no point in reading it, imo, and delaying that progression too long is one of the reasons why people get such a hatred hardon against these MCs whose writers won't let them break out of their virgin betaboy literary prisons.

Like oh, pretty girl wears revealing outfit, MC has quite the reaction - this is fine the first, second time. After all, this is a NEW THING! But the third time it happens, I've started to lose respect for the MC and respect for the author, because the work starts to lose authenticity. The guy is behaving in a way that has no correlation to real life - he's no longer a realistic character, but just a trope, static comic character like Beetle Bailey or Dennis the Menace.

We're only 5 chapters in, and kronix is already complaining. That is what is bothering me.

I'm a very patient being, I can easily wait a hundred chapters or more to see any resolution - after all I still like Detective Conan, but I'm also happy to read stable and complete relationships like Love at Fourteen, Horimiya, and Kekkon shite mo Koi shiteru. What I dislike is people like kronix who complain about this variety like it is a bad thing, people who want all stories to conform to their narrow expectations of pace or plot or purpose, and people who complain that the characters haven't made progress at a time when their story has barely gotten started. I don't have any beef with this story, or with you, or with our expectations, and I don't feel disagreement with your statements, so I'm not sure what you're hounding me about, other than my first hyperbolic statement targeted at kronix.

Still, using flour to clean spilled oil is waste IMO. I prefer clean it with used towel that you want to throw it anyway and then clean the floor with soap, but man, real a lot of work.

Mix 1tbs washing powder with 1:1 water, clean it with cloth. Washing powder is great for all sorts of oils even plant oils, can handle grease or PTFE too.
