It could end up becoming one since this is an adaptation and I haven’t read the original, but personally from what I know of it I think that’s a bad tag. The name of the series is literally Gal X Otaku and I don’t remember that tag being there before.

Is there a love triangle ?

Haven't read it in a little while, but: Not really. As of chapters in the late-20s, it's a "harem" in the sense that there's an obvious canonical couple in mutual love with one another who are making slow but steady progress towards becoming an official thing, but a couple other girls will develop one-sided crushes on the main guy, Otakura. He never considers them as anything more than friends, doesn't intentionally lead them on, only has eyes for the main girl, and none of the "others" ever pose a credible threat to the "real" relationship. If anything, the other girls drive progress in the main relationship forward. And not every girl falls for the MC; Yua's gal friends see his charm and become her wingmen. Basically all the mobs are rooting for them.

It's a romcom that's comedy-first and actually funny. But it doesn't skimp on the cute-'n'-blushy romance, and there's more romantic progress than your typical Love Status Quo series. This and Dress Up Darling diverged HARD after a few chapters, but if you liked the parts early on where Marin was all giddy and squee-ing in her head about how much she loved Gojo, Otaku x Gal has you covered, in my opinion.

The basic joke of the series is that the MC is a secretly-high-spec hottie with a backbone whose otaku skills let him solve like every problem in a woman's life. Here's an example so you can know what kind of series it is and how it handles these conflicts: When he overhears some boys in the bathroom talking about how the main girl looks like a slut because she's always pressing herself against "some nerd," he doesn't get all in his head about whether she's cheating on him. No, no. He straightens up, coughs to interrupt them, and flexes at them, making them run away screaming. Then he immediately goes to the girl in question, leans in super close to her ear, and tells her not to do that with anybody but him, making her doki doki the fuck out.

Just place your trust in the series. Even when it looks like things are getting serious in some way or another, remember that it's all in service of some kind of comedy payoff. Obviously, I really like this one and highly recommend it.
