i think i know why MC still lvl 1.

he said before the strength gained from dungeons only works there. but since hes not gaining levels, his physical strength is his own, not tied to levels like everyone else

I presume it's sort of a pride thing. Trying to prove that humans can conquer the dungeons without relying on some kind of supernatural power given to them by who knows what.

"Our old levels." That makes me even more sure that the reason he refuses to level up is because he lost all his levels and realized that strength given to you by some unknown power isn't as valuable as strength earned on your own, thus refusing to level up and rely on that unknown power once again.
