I like when there's no childhood friend in the romance it doesn't always have to be them but I hate when a childhood friend is one of the main interests in the story but is deemed to not be considered like unless it's a romance about childhood friends being together I don't see a reason to make them compete for the place

i took it to mean he is the one who roped her into the fake dating idea so he stopped receiving confessions. And being his CF friend she went along with it and admits that it was a useful idea cuz it stopped her from being confessed too as well--plus everyone wanted them to be together and probably tried to hassle them into dating before that point anyway so it just stopped all of that. It doesnt mean she was in love with him, was just worded kinda oddly
